Australian Labradoodles

An Australian Labradoodle is a fairly new breed compared to most. It was developed in Australia several years ago by combining a Labrador and a Poodle as a foundation, then adding several other breed types during its early development to create a breed now known as the Australian Labradoodle. They are low to non-shedding and are alergy friendly.

The Australian Labradoodles all have genetic links to Australia. They are bred for temperament first. They are void of aggression, easy to maintain, are tolerant of children, extremely intelligent and easy to train. They also come in smaller sizes. In other words, they make the perfect family pet.

Australian Labradoodles come in three different sizes.

  • Miniature: 14-16 inches tall and 16-25 pounds
  • Medium: 17-20 inches tall and 25-40 pounds
  • Standard: 21-24 inches tall and 40-65 pounds

The coats of Australian Labradoodles come in the following types.

  • Fleece: Wavy or soft curls or spirals. Very silky to touch. Should be non-shedding and allergy friendly.
  • Wool: Loose curls that may be soft. Also can be coarse like a poodle coat. Always non-shedding and is the most allergy friendly.
  • Flat Hair: Similar to the Lab coat. Lightly shedding. Very rare in an Australian Labradoodle.
